The Gauntlet is the eleventh season of the RSF Franchise, and is based off of the Gauntlet 3 format of the reality television series The Challenge (formerly known as the Real World/Road Rules Challenge. The season followed The Castle.

This season saw the players divided into 2 teams of 16 (depending on the team) based on one simple question on their application: would you rather act in the better interest of the team or of yourself (the individual). Those who would rather look out for their own individual agenda were placed on the Blue Team and those that would rather look out for the group were placed on the Red Team. Each team was made up of 8 RSF Veterans (players who competed in 3 or more previous RSF Seasons) and RSF Rookies (players who competed in 2 or less previous RSF Seasons).

Each day was assigned either a Rookie, Veteran or Double Gauntlet day. The team that won the mission earned safety and chose 1 member of the losing team to protect from the Gauntlet. Teams were unable to save the same person in consecutive opportunities. Then depending on what day it was all members vulnerable that day (rookies on Rookie days, veterans on Veteran days and everyone for Double Gauntlet days) will vote one member of the losing team into the Gauntlet with the winning team and losing team each choosing one. Those players would then do battle in the Gauntlet for the right to stay in the game.

In the end, The Blue Team (BOBROCKS333, Spinner554, BBlover96, nbkiller, jimboslice, splozojames50, Austinsscott) defeated The Red Team (punx193, DanieleD, Leonine_Divine) in the Final Challenge in order to earn the title of RSF Champion.

Production

Applications for The Gauntlet opened on December 10, 2011 and were open for roughly a week. 47 people (25 Rookies, 22 Veterans) applied for the season and 30 were initially cast with 2 spots left open for the Last Chance Poll.

All players who applied and were not cast participated in the Last Chance Poll where the players who received the most votes in each group would become the final players of the season. After 134 and 116 votes were cast, the winners of the Last Chance Poll with 57 and 48 votes respectively were:
