Cutthroat is the ninth season of the RSF Franchise, and is based off of the Cutthroat format of the reality television series The Challenge (formerly known as the Real World/Road Rules Challenge. The season followed The Mole: Return of the Traitor.

This season saw the players divided into 3 teams of 10 or 11 (depending on the team) via a draft with each team being made up of RSF Veterans (players who competed in a previous RSF Season) and RSF Rookies (players who have never competed in a previous RSF Season).

This season also incorporated the first Team Final rule in which all players needed to be present in order for a team to attempt/continue the Final. This rule was enforced when both the Blue and Gray Teams had a member missing at the Final and could not compete.

In the end, the Red Team (aiwfwyattroh and johnoliver96) defeated The Gray Team (BBlover96, brandoluscious, mjpj189 and Spritester) and The Blue Team (soiyer, BOBROCKS333, Jaylon, sarge455) in the Final Challenge in order to earn the title of RSF Champion.

Production

Applications for Cutthroat opened on August 19, 2011 and were open for roughly 4 days. 47 people (23 Rookies, 24 Veterans) applied for the season and 30 were initially cast with 2 spots left open for the Last Chance Poll.

All players who applied and were not cast participated in the Last Chance Poll where the players who received the most votes in each group would become the final players of the season. After 77 and 106 votes were cast, the winners of the Last Chance Poll with 24 and 36 votes respectively were:
